Company history
Established in 1981 in Hebron Illinois, Our name is a constant reminder of the 1952 Hebron High School State Basketball Champions. Our company was started by James Durkee, a Hebron businessman and big sports fan who created the pizza brand and name. Unfortunately Durkee passed away suddenly in 1986 and the business was subsuquently purchased by Mary and Michael Kynell. For the next 21 years, Mary Kynell built the business and increased the product line and distribution of the product.
In June of 2009, Mary Kynell sold the business to the Weiss Family; Jim, Renee, Tim and Zachary. While the business has new owners, our promise is to maintain the quality of the product and concentrate on increasing our distribution network. Look for Champion Pizza coming to a store or tavern near you...
In 2010, the Weiss family introduced two new thin crust pizzas: Garlic Alfredo with Sausage and the Combo Pizza.(Cheese, Sausage and Pepperoni) In addition Champion Pizza began producing a bread crumb crust pizza due to customer demand. This thicker crust pizza uses all of the same finest, fresh ingredients as our thin crust pizza on a thicker more hearty bread crumb crust... YUM!!!!
