We're Proud to be Champion Pizza! Our name is a constant reminder of the legendary 1952 Hebron, Illinois State Basketball Champions. Founded by Hebron businessman and sports fan James Durkee, who created the famous Champion recipe, the Champion brand quickly became a hit throughout the region. Our Kitchens were first USDA certified in 1981, and we've been Making Pizza Like a Champion ever since!
In 1986, Champion was purchased by the Kynell family. For the next 21 years, the Kynells grew the business and increased the distribution of our frozen pizza. In 2009, the Weiss family took over and introduced the now famous Garlic Alfredo with Sausage pizza. Great tasting Champion Pizza's distribution continued to grow throughout the years in grocery stores and taverns across the region.
In early 2015 Champion Pizza was acquired by Champion Foods. In their first pizza season, Champion Foods introduced nine new Mini Champ Pizzas, and nine amazing new Thick Crust Pizzas! Champion Pizza Fans have been cheering ever since!
Then in July of 2017 Champion Foods acquired the Halftime Frozen Pizza brand and began producing and distributing Halftime Pizza along side Champion Pizza. With years of tradition and fans, Halftime's Thin crust and Stadium thick crust frozen pizzas bring home the famous tastes of Illinois legend Halftime Bar and Grill.
Most recently, to start 2024, the Champion Pizza brands were acquired by MC Champion Pizza Inc. insuring a vibrant future for Champion as a local product in the Southern Wisconsin and Chicagoland area. The new Champion Pizza is committed to continuing the nearly 75 year tradition of delicious, fresh, handmade frozen pizza from the finest ingredients available!
